Park Extravaganza

Coming from California to Ontario, I've had to get used to the idea of long months of indoor weather.  The parks get fenced up with snowshields and the swings hang empty day after day.  It took some years to adjust, but now I can really appreciate the coming (or going) of the seasons so much more than when I lived in perpetual spring.  To bid farewell to summer, the kids and I got up very early Sunday morning, stopped for breakfast at Tim Horton's, and plugged "park" into our GPS.  We then proceeded to visit every park and splashpad that came our way.  It was so beautiful seeing their excitement as we pulled into the next park, and the next, and the next.

We found abandoned nests...

"Discovered" a Rose Garden in the middle of a downtown park designed by the architect of Central Park...

and, because we got such an early start, had the splashpad all to ourselves!

I have shots of them pushing each other on six different (but practically identical) swings across the city.  They never tired of it and when I told them we could make it a tradition, they said, "Really? So we get to do this again next week?!?!"
