5 minute Tummy Time Blanket

Third children are so independant!  I've been so busy keeping afloat that I haven't had the time to obsess over baby milestones.  I think I actuallly TIMED tummy time with my first two (okay, my first one).  But Baby Selma in her kindness has taken matters into her own hands and flops over like a fish every time she is laid down on her back.  With winter approaching, I want to give her something soft and clean to lay on, especially when she face-plants ...

Because you only need one yard of fabric, you can pick a really nice print that you like that you wouldn't buy in multiple yards ($$$).
So, one yard of cotton fabric
One yard of polar fleece

Wash both pieces and iron the cotton flat
Fold and iron the rough edge of the cotton piece (I did about a 1/4 inch fold, some sides a little more)

Fold the polar fleece in half and center it on the cotton piece.  You should have an even few inches around the edge of the fleece.  Cut the fleece as needed.

Miter the corners: fold the corner into the blanket, then fold the sides on top of that fold

Sew along the edge, where the fleece and cotton meet (you should have a bit of fleece tucked in under the cotton edge).  I kept the presser foot along the edge of the cotton

In a morning, you can make one for every floor

Now, these ones I left plain, but I plan on embellishing them a bit, I've dotted an "S" freehand on the fleece with a disappearing fabric pen and will go over the dots with french knots.  That would have exceeded the five minutes though, so I'll save that for a lazy (HA!) Sunday morning
