A friend came to visit the other day and the first thing she noticed in Selma's nursery was the "designer" lamp on the table. Pottery Barn? Land of Nod? Posh Tots??? (Okay, I added the last one).
Actually, the lamp was from Target for about $10:
But with a scrap of organza and a glue gun it became:
There is a great tutorial for making these flowers here, but basically you just cut several organza circles of graduated diameters. Hold the edge of a circle near (but not too near) a flame - a tealight will do - until it just starts to curl in. Turn it to get the full edge curled. Repeat with remaining circles and stack the circles on top of each other. Make a few stitches in the center to hold them together
Some people really go to town with this and put beads in the center that look like a stamen and pistil.
I make those flowers a lot for my jewelry. They look great on the lamp too!
